Your generous contribution goes straight into making an impact to our School. It enhances the educational, spiritual, and experience of our students.  Tuition alone doesn’t cover all the costs to create the St. John’s experience we know and love.  This Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition and the foundational St. John’s experience.

Our goal is to keep tuition low for our community but tuition and fees alone only cover roughly 74% of our overall operating costs, which leaves the School the task to bridge the gap between tuition income and operating expenses.  Dollars raised by annual giving are crucial to the operating budget which includes teachers’ salaries, educational materials, the financial aid program, and facilities maintenance.

Below are highlights of how gifts to the 2024–2025 St. John’s Fund empowered our School.

Academic and Programmatic Growth

• Expanded Pre-K4 enrollment to meet the growing demand
• Launched Lower School Science curriculum, including dissection labs and PBL opportunities
• Responsive Classroom training and expanded continuing education opportunities
• New Parent University programming to strengthen home/school partnerships
• Addition of dedicated faculty/administrators to steward Bridge to Blue (Grade 7) and Portrait of a Graduate (Grade 8) curriculum

Enrichment and Experiences

• Interactive PE equipment and new art room tables to foster creativity and motor skills
• Middle School Musical with updated costumes, sets, and props
• Expanded Field Trip Program for more diverse off-campus learning

Environmental and Outdoor Learning

• New Primary playground shade structure to reduce temperatures for student play
• Butterfly Garden and Vegetable Garden enhancements to enrich outdoor education

Safety and Security

• Installed campus-wide window security film glazing
• Enhanced security officer presence

Athletics and Extracurriculars

• Launched Middle School Lions Football Program and Young Lions Program
• Sports Spirit Nights to celebrate student-athletes and foster school spirit

The Board of Trustees and Head of School are committed to minimizing tuition increases while continuing to offer every student an excellent education. The majority of any school budget is applied to people and facility maintenance, leaving little flexibility due to those fixed costs. The cost of providing an excellent education continues to increase significantly, putting pressure on the budget. We ask those who can stretch to please do so, given that not everyone can due to their current circumstances.

We ask that pledges be fulfilled by May 31, 2026.  It is helpful to St. John’s if you make your commitment early in the fiscal year, even if you don’t pay until later. It is important for the Board of Trustees to know the approximate total of the projected funds raised before they meet at the end of the year to begin the budget planning process for the next school year.

Gifts of $2,500 or more are considered Leadership Gifts to the School. Leadership Gifts make up 74% of our total funds raised of this important fundraising initiative. When you contribute $2,500 or more you are invited to a St. John’s Fund leadership gift celebration in November 2025. Gifts of $5,000 or more are invited to the Presidents Circle Dinner in May.

Corporate matching programs can double the impact of your gift at no additional cost to you. If your company is eligible, you should request a matching gift form via your company’s intranet or HR department. Complete the form and send it to Director of Philanthropy Elizabeth Smith in the Development Office and the school will do the rest.

St. John’s Episcopal School Tax ID number is 75-2147746. A gift of stocks or securities is eligible for charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the gift without capital gains tax on appreciated stock. A deferred or planned gift has potential tax benefits as well.
