2018-19 PARENT VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
The St. John's Parents Association organizes hundreds of volunteers and many wonderful community-building events throughout the year, touching virtually every part of the school. In addition, the Crusader Club gives dads a direct way to support the students and school. You are automatically a member of both organizations. To really share in the life of the school and enjoy one of St. John's greatest assets - its community spirit - we encourage you to sign up to volunteer during the upcoming school year. You should have received an email on May 15 (subject line "2018-2019 St. John's PA Volunteer Registration") containing your unique login information. If not, please contact Sarah Donahue.
Please view the St. John's Uniform Details page for information regarding Mills and uniform guidelines.
SUMMER READING LISTS
Students entering the first and second grades have suggested summer reading. Rising third through eighth graders have required summer reading, which must be completed by the first day of school. Those students must also bring their signed reading logs to school on the first day. Get the Middle School reading log. Please see the reading lists by grade level below.

TECHNOLOGY TIP FOR THE SUMMER
Sometimes you need to come at learning from a new direction. If your kids are bored by the more obvious educational apps, try one or two of these unconventional apps that can help kids learn. Also, lots of casual games -- especially puzzlers and problem-solving-centered apps -- are great for critical thinking and executive function skills. And if you're watching or playing with them you can capitalize on all the potential teachable moments that may be very specific to your child.
MESSAGE FROM THE CLINIC
If your child has received shots recently or receives any immunizations over the summer, please send an updated shot record to nurse Amy Johns. She will be sending email notifications over the summer to parents of all students with incomplete immunizations. In addition, be aware that all students entering the seventh grade will need their meningococcal immunization (MCV), second Varicella (chicken pox) and the diphtheria/tetanus booster (Tdap) before school starts. Make sure your rising seventh graders have received all of these shots before they return to school in August.
