Camp: Soccer FUNdamentals

Description: Kidokinetics Fundamental Soccer clinic designed to introduce the child to the fun sport of soccer. Primary skill introduction includes ball handling, shooting, throwing in, passing and ball control. The approach does not introduce strategy elements as the focus is on building confidence through control and coordination. The coaches introduce fun games to help reinforce the skills and teamwork. Physical skills include speed, agility, coordination, stamina, balance and strengthening.

Description: Little Geniuses is a chess-song singing, laughing, chess-tourney, dancing, chess clock-slapping, zany chess video, puppet show introduction to chess and being the smart kid in class. Kids report Little Geniuses to be the favorite part of their week because kids love our developmentally targeted, infectiously-fun thinking activities and find them compelling, exhilarating, and extremely gratifying.

Description: St. John’s offers a great learn-to-ride camp for kids from K-3rd grade! Beginning Biking is directed by Coach Stewart Ball, founder of Dallas Bicycling School. Your child will learn to ride skillfully and safely in the confines of St. John’s campus. Our instructors are experienced in making sure children overcome their fears and experience the thrill of riding a bike on their own. 

*Campers will need their own bikes and helmets for this camp. Bikes will be stored on the SJES Campus for the week for easy transport.


Camp: Mandalorian Training Using LEGO Materials

Description: Here’s our chance to join our friends and learn what it takes to become a true Mandalorian. Using LEGO, an experienced instructor will guide us through the skills and equipment needed to earn the title. We will build our gauntlet fighter ship to weave through the galaxy, our Z-6 jetpacks to maneuver through the air, and of course defend ourselves with our Mandalorian armor. Coming to a galaxy near you!

Description: In recent years, a renewed interest in baking has swept both the USA and the UK due to television shows such as, ‘The Great British Baking Show’ and ‘The American Baking Competition.’ This camp provides new recipes for young bakers to practice their pastry making, cookie baking, and kneading skills. This camp accommodates nut allergies only.

Description: Calling all board game and collectible card game fanatics! Whether you enjoy standard board games like Monopoly and The Game of Life, group games like Apples to Apples, or even collective card games like Magic the Gathering or Pokémon, this camp is for you! Explore new games, master the old ones, and have fun with friends!

Description: Interested in drawing, art, or design? In this class, you’ll learn how to use your doodling skills for real, by doing design projects for local nonprofits or small businesses. You will learn how to make professional posters and art that people want to pay for, and you’ll ultimately design posters and ads for real organizations with good causes. Our students' work has been used in ads and online Instagrams posts by the Special Olympics, Martha's Kitchen, and local shelters.


Camp: E-sports Apprentice - Streamers and Gamers

Description:  Whether you want to be the next pro gamer, streamer, or gamecaster this course will teach you the basics to get started! No longer just a hobby, e-sports is the fastest-growing career for the next generation. Over 400 million people watched YouTube videos and Twitch streams of video game competitions this year alone! In this course, students will develop game-play skills and compete using Black Rocket’s E-sports games and apps, learn how to produce commentary for live tournaments, use professional streaming software, and most importantly practice online safety. Student recordings will be available on a password protected website to share with friends and family. Videos will not be broadcast publicly but will be shared with all students in the class.

Description: Explore the trails around White Rock Lake on your bike! More than just a bike ride, this camp is a multi-day bike adventure. In addition to developing excellent biking skills and fitness, we learn about our natural surroundings, the places of interest and history around the lake. If your child already knows how to ride, this is the class to take. We emphasize how to safely handle a bike on the velo trails around Dallas, ride in small groups and build fitness with biking. Bike, helmets and water bottle required. Bikes can be kept on campus. 


Camp: Girls Empower Girls

Description: Join St. John's TK teacher, Mrs. Fallin, as she creates a positive and safe environment for preteens and teens to participate in yoga poses, breathing exercises, movement games, mindfulness activities, and much-needed relaxation techniques and good vibes. Campers have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills throughout the week as they explore their values and self-esteem.

Description: Students will be introduced to the instruments of the orchestra through games, activities, and instruction. They will build an instrument petting zoo and create their own instrument. Students will have the opportunity to show off their creations at the end of the camp to families!

Description: Kidokinetics Super Sports Sampler programs are designed to provide a fun, healthy week of exercise, games, nutrition and sports activities. Each class introduces a new sport or sport activity teaching the skills and drills associated with the sport. Sports activities include Golf, Tennis, Basketball, Baseball/T-ball, Football, Hockey, Obstacle Course, Hula Hoops, Jump Rope, PE games, Jai Lai (scoop ball), Throw & Catch, Relays and Parachute activities. Description: Bringing back the days before kids’ sports were a full-time job, when you got up a backyard game with your friends just for the fun of it - this is a camp kids love! With an ever-changing line up of sports and games, we’ll stay cool in the gym and out of the summer heat, but still burn off our energy! Kickball, flag football, bean bag toss, tag, capture the flag, field hockey, soccer, ga-ga-ga, volleyball, nine square and more. Explore the variety of content and personalities that exist on YouTube and how to find your own niche. Learn the Dos and Don’ts of the platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-camera presence, your own channel branding, and professional editing skills. Take home a plan for launching your own channel with the content created in class! Student projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.


Camp: Journalism Camp

Description: Do you love writing? Have you ever wanted to publish articles online, or have something you wrote go viral? In this club for budding writers, you’ll work on all of the above, as you learn how to be a junior journalist. You’ll interview your friends, learn how to write really well, and craft weekly articles about events at your school. At the end of the class, you and your friends will team up to write a real article that could be published in a local newspaper!

Description: This camp is tailor-made with our lion cubs in mind. St. John’s Auxiliary Programs teacher, Stacey Magill, will lead a fun camp structured around a different theme and the art of play! Our mornings will be full of experiential learning through arts and crafts, story time, outdoor/indoor/water play, music, cooking, games, art, movement, and more! After lunch and a rest time, children will have the opportunity   for recess and structured centers activities. Our experienced primary instructors are looking forward to providing a safe environment for your child to explore and learn new things! Please note this camp runs daily from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.


Camp: GLOW In the Snow

Description: Do you want to build a snowman? It may be hot outside, but we will stay cool exploring a frozen world while under the Arctic stars using blacklights. We will investigate snow, ice, crystals and arctic creatures through experiences in art, science, games and building materials...in the dark! We will also read books and discuss the wonders of nature at night.


Camp: Express Yourself Art Camp

Description: Express yourself with St. John’s Preschool Director, Ms. Breeding, and St. John’s Spanish teacher, Mrs. Martinez, while learning from the masters. Paint like impressionists such as Monet and Van Gogh, work with sunflowers like O’Keeffe, and sculpt with wire and glass like Calder. Experience many types of art media while expressing your creativity. All works of art will be displayed in our camp gallery art show on the last day of camp. A $25 supply fee is included in the price of the camp.


Camp: A Very “Pinteresting” Camp

Description: Join St. John’s 4th grade teachers, Ms. May and Mr. Telzrow, as we make the best of all Pinterest has to offer. Enjoy and explore crafts, artwork, cooking, fashion and more during this weeklong adventure tackling the most fun “pins” on Pinterest!


Camp: Let’s Go Have Some Fun 3.0

Description: Hop aboard the bus to head out for a grand adventure with St. John’s 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Isbell and Coach Walker! Lunch and snacks will be provided. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Each day will be a new adventure from sports, culture, amusement parks, Top Golf, laser tag, games, and more! Daily schedules will be sent to campers before the camp week begins. Lunch is provided daily and is included in the cost of the camp.


Camp: Acts of Kindness Camp

Description: Participate in daily activities that will make this world a better place with St. John’s PE teacher, Ms. Hernandez and St. John’s TK associate, Mrs. Hernandez. From baking dog treats and passing them out at the park, to planning birthday parties for those who would otherwise go without, this camp will be sure to show kids why it's cool to be kind.

*Students will go off campus throughout the week for activities. A full schedule will be sent before the camp week begins.
