ASP Optional Classes

ChessChess

The St. John's Chess Club meets on a weekly basis. Students will learn new skills and techniques and practice by playing matches against friends and other clubs. Interested players will be invited to participate in an average of two Saturday tournaments each semester, and will be encouraged to play in the St. John's Championship Tournament in the spring (trophies awarded).

Creative Movement

Explore rhythm, creativity and boundless energy through movement with Mrs. Adrienne. While using wonderful imagination and creative expression, students will be introduced to the world of dance.

IMAGINATION Theater

Imagination takes flight in this fun and exciting class filled with activities that explore the expressive use of voice, movement and feelings. Discover your creativity and learn acting skills as you step into the world of drama. Family and friends will have fun watching you act out your favorite stories in a class sharing on the last day of the semester in Clements Hall.

JUNIOR ACTING ENSEMBLE

In this class you will gain fundamental acting tools and performance techniques. Theater games, improvisation and exercises will help you understand character and scene development, voice projection and blocking. You will also heighten your comedic and dramatic skills while rehearsing new scenes in preparation for your original show featured in Clements Hall.

HTKomputer Klub

If you have ever taken High Tech Kids classes before, you are going to love Komputer Klub. Now you don't have to worry about running out of class time. Komputer Klub combines all the amazing courses offered before into a club setting in which you participate in various lessons that are streamlined to work hand-in-hand. You will still create fun video games, star in your own personal movies, and create your own comics. But now each project will connect and build upon the others through your own website. This allows you to work at your own pace, and helps you learn how various technologies work together. Click here for more information about High Tech Kids.

Karate Karate for Kids

Always wanted to take karate? Our Karate Club is a satellite program for the Chamberlain Studios of Self Defense. St. John's teacher Lizz Klammer will again be the lead instructor for our Karate Club, along with Dr. Chamberlain. Mrs. Klammer has several years of martial arts experience and is in the instructor training program at Chamberlain Studios™. Our program will continue to use the same materials, curriculum and testing that Dr. Chamberlain offers at this other studios. This class is designed for both new and continuing students. Our goal for the St. John's Karate Club is for our kids to continue their training, have the opportunity to compete in local matches and to win some trophies!

SMALL NA LOGO JPEG Noah's Ark Animal Stuff-n-Fluff Workshops

Join your friends and come stuff-n-fluff our newest animals. Once again, Noah's Ark Animal Workshops will be conducting a stuff-n-fluff workshop in the After School Program. At the workshop, you will hand-stuff your very own 15-inch animal, put a special message inside the animal, bring the animal to life with the wishing star, and fill out a birth certificate for your new friend.

Science Adventures

Join other St. John's students as they explore the world of science by enrolling in one or all five of the Science Adventure clubs offered this year. Each class meets for five sessions on Wednesday afternoons and requires a minimum enrollment of 12 students. See class descriptions below.

Class Fantastic Physics - Wanted... Scientists interested in finding out "how things work." Take a closer look at the mysteries of magnetism and the secrets of cup stacking. Bowl your way through Newton's laws of motion and learn about levers as we catapult through Fantastic Physics.
