Parents Association
Our strong parent community makes us a better school. The commitment and leadership demonstrated year after year by our parents has had an immeasurable impact on our students, faculty and staff. The parents give generously of their time to the school, but maybe more important – they support each other throughout the years and grow into an extended family.
The St. John's Parents Association
The St. John’s Parents Association (PA) is a group of dedicated parents that organizes volunteers and hosts several events during the year. The PA’s goal is to strengthen our community and raise funds to expand the opportunities available to our students.
Community Building
Two of the annual PA events – Fall Festival and Winter Dinner – are solely community-building events. The Fall Festival takes place in October and is a great time for families and friends to spend a day outdoors together. This year, the theme is CrusaderShack (think Caddyshack!), and the festival will be Saturday, October 10, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Winter Dinner takes place in January and is a casual evening full of good food, friends and activities for the kids.
Fundraising
The Parents Association also sponsors fundraising events. Since its inception, the PA has raised more than $2,000,000 for the St. John’s community. Proceeds from Uniform Resale, Innisbrook gift wrap sales, the Book Fair and the annual Auction are disbursed by the PA’s disbursement committee at the end of the academic year.
Endowment Support
The PA has been a strong supporter of the St. John's endowments. Each year, the PA contributes to the teacher endowment, which funds professional development.
Classroom Support
For the past two year’s, a significant part of the PA’s disbursement has funded the purchase of SMART Boards for our classrooms, giving teachers another way to engage students.
Capital Support
During our most recent capital campaign, which funded our new Lower School building and renovations to the Middle School, the PA contributed more than $365,000. The PA named the early childhood playground and our front foyer, partially funded the lighting and sound for Clements Hall, and made several unrestricted contributions toward the campaign's total goal.
Executive Committee
Each spring, PA members elect a slate of Executive Committee officers to serve the following academic year. View the list of 2009-10 Executive Committee members.
