St. John's has been recognized as a founding school in the Green Ribbon Schools Program (GRS). Developed by the Texas Children in Nature Coalition, whose members include the Texas Parks and Wildlife Association, the GRS Program promotes healthy living for students, parents and staff by encouraging schools to create an environmentally-friendly campus, promote outdoor physical activity and healthy eating habits, and connect students to nature through outdoor classrooms, field trips and the integration of nature and natural systems in curricula.
St. John's completed activities in the four cornerstones of Eco-Campus, Nature Adventure, Health & Fitness, and Natural Classrooms to qualify for this recognition.
