After-School Program

St. John's offers a fun and engaging After-School Program (ASP) for our students from afternoon dismissal until 6:00 p.m. Organized by grade, the fee-based program provides opportunities for children to play, enjoy a snack, and engage in fun activities. Activities include crafts, games, activities, outdoor play, building with LEGO bricks, and FUN Fridays. Students are provided the opportunity to complete homework and reading assignments while attending the After-School Program. In order to protect the health and well-being of our community, the After-School Program is available for full-time or monthly enrollment only, and drop-in care will not be offered.

Student Pick Up

All students must be picked up from the After-School Program by 6:00 p.m. The ASP operates only on regularly scheduled school days. It is not available on the last school day before Thanksgiving, the last school day before Christmas holidays, Games Day or the last day of school.

Other After-School Activities

Pre-K

Our Pre-k students are in class from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. At no extra charge, Pre-k students may participate in the After-School Program until regular Lower School dismissal at 3:15 p.m. Students will be with their Pre-k teachers during this time.

2:45 p.m.: After class is dismissed, the student will be picked up from the classroom and taken outside (weather permitting) or to the Owen Gym for 30 minutes for snack and playground time.
3:20 p.m.: The student returns to his or her cohort classroom for homework completion and reading time.
4:00 p.m.: The student visits Owen Gym or the playground for physically-distanced games.
4:30 p.m.: The student returns to his or her cohort classroom for daily activities.
5:30 p.m.: St. John’s staff will bring children to their parents’ cars as parents will not be permitted to pick up their child inside the building.

An example of an afternoon in the life of a St. John’s After-School Program Middle School student:

3:30 p.m.: After class is dismissed, the student will travel directly to the cohort classroom for check-in, snack, games, and conversation.
3:45 p.m.: The student uses this time for homework completion.
4:50 p.m.: The student visits playground or Owen Gym for recreation.
5:20 p.m.: The student returns to his or her cohort classroom for reading, homework, games, or quiet conversation.
5:30 p.m.: St. John’s staff will bring children to their parents’ cars as parents will not be permitted to pick up their child inside the building.
